Support Coordination – Registered NDIS Support You Can Rely On
Navigating the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can sometimes feel complex and overwhelming. At Coastwide Disability Care, we make it simple. Our role as your registered NDIS Support Coordinator is to help you understand your plan, connect with the right supports, and build the skills you need to live more independently.
From July 2025, all Support Coordinators in Australia must be registered with the NDIS Commission. This change was introduced to strengthen quality, safety, and accountability for people with disability. As a fully registered provider, Coastwide Disability Care is proud to meet these standards while continuing to deliver personalised, participant-centred services across New South Wales.
What is Support Coordination?
Support Coordination is an NDIS-funded service designed to help participants put their plan into action. It’s about more than just linking you with services – it’s about building your capacity, confidence, and independence.
Our team works alongside you to:
- Understand your NDIS plan and budget.
- Connect with providers who match your goals and needs.
- Coordinate services and make sure they work well together.
- Build your skills so you can manage your plan with greater independence in the future.
We believe that every participant should feel in control of their supports, and our coordinators are here to guide you – not take over.
The 2025 Changes – Mandatory Registration for Support Coordinators
Until recently, support coordinators did not need to be registered with the NDIS Commission. However, following the NDIS Review recommendations, the government announced that all support coordinators must be registered by July 2025.
This change ensures that every participant in Australia can access safe, transparent, and high-quality support coordination. For participants and families, this means:
- Peace of mind knowing your coordinator meets national standards.
- Clearer accountability if something goes wrong.
- More transparency around costs, service delivery, and outcomes.
- Higher quality care aligned with the NDIS Practice Standards.
At Coastwide Disability Care, we welcomed this change. We believe participants deserve the very best, and mandatory registration is a positive step towards improving the overall NDIS experience.
Types of Support Coordination We Provide
Every participant’s needs are different, which is why the NDIS offers three levels of support coordination. At Coastwide Disability Care, we provide all levels, ensuring you get the right family coast support for your circumstances:
- Support Connection – For participants who just need some guidance to start using their ndis household tasks and plan and linking with services.
- Support Coordination – A deeper level of support, helping you design and manage your services, coordinate multiple providers, and overcome barriers.
- Specialist Support Coordination – For people with more complex needs, such as multiple services, crisis situations, or significant challenges.
No matter the level, our focus remains the same: to put you at the centre and make sure your supports work for you.
Why Choose a Registered Support Coordinator?
Choosing a registered NDIS Support Woy Woy gives you more than just compliance – it gives you confidence. Here’s what sets us apart:
- Registered and Compliant – Meeting all NDIS quality and safety standards.
- Local Knowledge – We connect you with trusted providers in your community.
- Participant-Centred Approach – Your goals, your choices, your control.
- Transparency – Clear communication and no hidden fees.
- Experience with Complex Needs – Skilled in navigating challenging situations.
We’re here to take the stress out of the NDIS while making sure you stay in control of your plan.
How Support Coordination Helps You Every Day
Our support coordinators do more than just paperwork. We work alongside you in practical, meaningful ways, such as:
- Helping you prepare for plan reassessments and reviews.
- Ensuring your services are working together and not overlapping.
- Finding alternative solutions when challenges arise.
- Supporting you in building everyday skills like budgeting, decision-making, and service management.
- Linking you with mainstream services (health, housing, community supports) in addition to NDIS-funded services.
The aim is not just to manage your plan today but to help you build the skills and confidence for tomorrow.
Support Coordination vs. Navigators – The Future of the NDIS
The 2023–24 NDIS Review recommended that support coordinators and LACs (Local Area Coordinators) be replaced with a new role called Navigators. These Navigators would provide more consistent and connected support across both NDIS and mainstream services.
While this change is still being considered, Coastwide Disability Care is staying ahead by ensuring our coordinators already provide holistic, participant-focused guidance. Whatever the future looks like, we’re committed to adapting and delivering the best outcomes for our participants.
How to Get Support Coordination in Your NDIS Plan
Not every NDIS participant automatically receives support coordination funding. It depends on your individual situation and goals. You may be eligible if:
- You’re new to the NDIS and need help understanding your plan.
- You have multiple or complex supports to manage.
- You’re in a challenging situation where extra guidance is required.
- You’d benefit from building independence and confidence.
If support coordination isn’t currently included in your plan, we can help you request a review or provide supporting information for future plans.
